Description

The Casa de las Torres is a palace in the style of a turreted urban fortress (hence its popular name) and currently houses the School of Arts and Crafts of Úbeda, where studies in Artistic Cabinetmaking, Engraving and Stamping Techniques, Projects and Direction of Decoration Works and Baccalaureate of Arts are carried out. The palace is a space widely used by Antonio Muñoz Molina in his work El Jinete Polaco, fictionalizing the legend of “the sandwich,” a woman who appeared at the beginning of the 20th century after renovation works on the palace. Remains that are assigned to Doña Ana de Orozco. According to legend, motivated by revenge, her husband, Andrés Dávalos, dressed her in nun's habits, placed a rosary in her hands and walled her up alive.
