Corpus Christi
Description
The most important and long-standing festival in Villacarrillo, with more than 650 years of history. Since the 19th century it has held the privilege of being celebrated in the afternoon, with the blessing of the Holy See and Pope Leo XIII. Streets and small squares are decorated with potted plants, broom and carpets of flowers, creating true works of art, as residents turn Villacarrillo into a genuine garden for the senses to enjoy. Besides this town, Corpus Christi is also deeply rooted in Baeza, a celebration held since the Middle Ages; and in Villardompardo, honoured with the designation of Site of Ethnological Cultural Interest.
