El Condado

Located to the north of the province of Jaén, it occupies the southeastern foothills of Sierra Morena and the Guadalquivir Depression, limits to the north with the province of Ciudad Real. The area of the Region is occupied by a mosaic of landscapes: red lands and olive groves; spectacular holm oak meadows, slopes and valleys of Mediterranean mountains, crossed by numerous streams, rivers and reservoirs.

The County was a border territory and a crossroads: dinosaur footprints, rock art, Iberians, Roman bridges, castles and towers, colonization towns, museums, interpretation centers, sites, churches, urban centers of Arab origin with winding and steep streets , modernist houses, ... are some of the many suggestions to visit and get to know this region, noble for its origin and for the hospitality of its inhabitants, who offer its landscapes and its products originating from its rich gastronomy.

Among the delicacies of the land, highlight the migas with torreznos, the asparagus in sauce, the Serrano beans from Castellar, the porridge or the pickled partridge from Arquillos, and the cod. The most characteristic sweets are the biscuit, the braided ones, the pestiños, the little flowers, the hornazos and the protestants.
