At the northern end of the Aznaitín massif, in the area known as “la Cimbra”, is the Cueva de la Graja. It really is a shelter 6 meters deep by 6 meters wide, which reaches 5 meters at its highest point. In addition to offering wonderful views from its 750 meters of altitude, this shelter houses rock art manifestations that were made between 2000 and 5000 years before our era. Made with pigments obtained through the mixture of iron oxide, clays and animal fats; the paintings represent rites and pastoral work. Declared a Historic-Artistic Monument in 1924, the cave can be visited upon request at the Jimena Town Hall.
