23213, Santa Elena How to get

As is characteristic of the colonizing urbanism of Sierra Morena, the most outstanding element is its square.

It is a very large rectangular space, open to streets on each of its four sides, where the most emblematic buildings of the town come together: the parish church, on one of the short sides, with its verticalized belfry that has its replica in the turret for the clock and bell of the town hall, a landscape building with two bodies with large vertical openings arranged on an axis. The third most important building is the Diezmos y Labradores granary, also with a longitudinal structure and covered with Arabic gabled tile.

Starting from the square, the town planimetry is organized. In the streets, axial perspectives predominate, the houses have the same height and proportions, the framework is reticular, like a string line, and the geometric structure. In a single point, the urban layout of Santa Elena deviates from the neoclassical model: its perimeter could not be square because the status of "Andalusian gate" made it stretch to adapt to the road and create the necessary infrastructure to accommodate travelers and visitors. .

Currently, the historic center of Santa Elena has a file for its declaration as a Site of Cultural Interest.
