This municipality is part of:

It’s one of the most pretty and historic towns in the park. Built around a hill, the streets and plazas have the curved and diverse appearance of a medieval layout. The Guadalquivir river begins in the municipal area, in the Cañada de las Fuentes.

Olives dominate the local agriculture and the town has an olive oil cooperative which forms part of the "Sierra de Cazorla" Designation of Origin. Sheep farming is also important to the local economy. Cereal cultivation is on the decline and has been gradually replaced by olives.

The surrounding area is dotted with important environmental and heritage sites, such as the Roman villa of Bruñuel and the esteemed Santuario de la Virgen de Tíscar (Sanctuary of the Virgin of Tiscar).

Highlights of the town include the Iglesia Parroquial de San Pedro and San Pablo (Parochial Church of Saint Pedro and Saint Paul), the Watchtower of Prince Don Enrique, the Arco de los Santos (Arch of the Saints) and the Levantine cave paintings in the Cave of the Encajero, which have been declared a Heritage site. Finally, there is the Museum of Rafael Zabaleta, a native painter of Quesada, and the museum of Miguel Hernández, whose wife was born in this town.
