Arjona

Arjona is a Jaen municipality located in the northwest of the province, 44 km. from the capital and belongs to the region of the Campiña de Jaén.
It has a population of 6,000 inhabitants and its municipal area has an area of 158, 45 km2.
It is an eminently agricultural town with a predominance of olive groves. Its economy is based on agricultural activity and the olive industry, although the furniture and confectionery industry have a recognized prestige and tradition.

Small game hunting is another of its attractions and the banks of the Salado stream make up areas of natural interest.
In its historical-artistic heritage, the Sanctuary of the Relics stands out, drawn up by Juan de Aranda Salazar in the 17th century; the church of Santa María, from the 15th century and in the Elizabethan style, built on the remains of a medieval castle of which a cistern is preserved, included in the Route of Castles and Battles.
Other buildings are: the church of Carmen, of which its Mudejar tower stands out and the church of San Martín and San Juan with a Plateresque façade.
