Tapadero viewpoint

Singular places

, Cazorla

This viewpoint is located on the projection of a rocky wall, with a vertical drop of more than 200 m, over an abyss whose vision makes an impression. The steep slopes are populated by patches of Mediterranean forest, which anchor its roots in the sheer rock. It is common to observe the mountain goats climbing up the slopes, as well as the majestic flight of large birds of prey, especially griffon vultures, but also golden eagles, short-toed, causeway, hawks, hawks ... and, if lucky, even the recently reintroduced bearded vulture.

A tortuous Moorish juniper, with its trunk tanned by the passage of time and inclement weather, welcomes us to the viewpoint, from which you can contemplate an impressive and majestic panoramic view of the Sierra de Las Villas, which as a balcony it opens up to show us, in the foreground, the delightful valley of the Chillar stream and, in the background, the valley of the Guadalquivir river, which is lost among the olive hills.

We suggest:

  • Continue our ascent, until the Collado del Agua de Los Perros, which with its 1200 m of altitude, allows us to have a magnificent and spectacular view of this mountain range.
  • Contemplate the twilight on the horizon. The soft light that surrounds the place produces fantastic tones on the rocks and accentuates the powerful forms of its relief, accentuating the magical charm of the place.

JH-1755 road, which connects the town of Villanueva del Arzobispo with the town of Tranco, known as “Transversal de las Villas”. The location of the viewpoint is well marked by a sign.
