Sendero de La Garza

Routes

Starting from the “La Garza” Sports Complex located to the north of the Linares municipality, following the lane towards Guarromán, we enter the fertile valley of the Lagunas, where more greenhouses appear every day. Before the first houses, we will have the option of taking a diversion to visit the San Andrés Mine (3.2 km round trip) in the direction of La Fernandina Reservoir, an area with abundant vegetation.

Program

Back on the main path we head towards the hill formed by El Cerro de las Mancebas and Cerro Paño Pico along a transversal route that offers a magnificent panoramic view of this place surrounded by mining remains where its slender chimneys stand out. At the crossing of the hill we connect with the Cerro de las Mancebas path, PR-A 261, which ascend to the left together, so that we can enjoy the views and the aroma of the valley and breathe in history as we pass by the Pozo Zulueta, Pozo San Ignacio and the Mineral de Arrayanes Lavadero, end of the common section. The Lavadero is reached by descending to the left, at a crossroads, along an eroded path, from where an old dismantled line of the mining railway connects it with the Cuesta del Mimbre, converted into a wide track heavily traveled by the trucks from the quarry. This place in turn converges in a short common section with the PR-A 263 that connects Linares, from the Ermita de Linarejos, with the Mimbre Mine.

Going down the track to the same valley, the path returns without difficulty to the “La Garza” Sports Complex.
