Program

The first meters of the walk already run along the platform of the Vía Verde del Aceite until its confluence with the regional road. The road is crossed with great caution - although there is good visibility, the cars circulate at high speed - to connect with the old railway line. From here the extensive olive-growing countryside is lined up practically in a straight line.

After walking for about twenty-five minutes, you will reach the first lagoon, the Laguna Honda Nature Reserve. The sheet of water is surrounded by a border of reeds and reeds that give shelter, during the winter, to an endless number of aquatic birds. The best way to appreciate the lagoon and the birdlife is from the same railway platform. Approaching the sheet of water means losing perspective.

The route still continues for a kilometer on the road. When you reach a raft, you turn onto the lane that goes up to the right. A little further on, it passes by the Cortijo del Chinche, from where you can already see the second lagoon, the Laguna del Chinche Nature Reserve. Although smaller than the previous one, it is also home to a large group of ducks. The most suitable point to contemplate it is from the lane that starts to the left, at the next junction. This last section is not suitable for users with reduced mobility.

To return to the starting point, we will use the same route. If you wish, you can extend the walk to the end of the Vía Verde del Aceite and the province of Jaén, in the vicinity of the Vado Mojón Reservoir. There it connects with the Vía Verde de las Subbéticas, already in the province of Córdoba.
