Torreón Medieval

23393, Villarrodrigo How to get

The Villarrodrigo tower has a square plan and is made of good masonry covered by large irregular ashlars. Its main facade, of 13.60 meters, has an arched door made up of striking carved voussoirs, an entrance that is somewhat elevated with respect to the level of the square.

At the back there is a single loophole arranged at a great height to illuminate the spiral staircase that leads to a terrace. The only interior room is covered with a shell vault.

Despite the fact that in the 1960s its upper part was stripped down to the level of the surrounding houses, some of which have been attached to it on two sides, it arouses great interest not only for its own architectural typology but also also because of the medieval urban scenery that it reproduces in the center of the municipality.
