Jaén's mountains, upper river courses, old horse trails, weather conditions and much more make the province an ideal destination for adventure sport lovers. Its natural spaces are an invitation to enjoy multiadventure circuits and practise water and air sports.

The mountain peaks of the Natural Park of Sierra Mágina (over 2.000 m. / 6.561 ft. above sea level) constitute a unique environment for winter mountaineering. The Natural Park of the Sierras of Cazorla, Segura y las Villas is another ideal place for hiking and trekking trips. Despite the very strict regulations of the Natural Park, there are a number of spots where canyoning may be practised under the guidance of officially approved specialized local firms. Horse riding is an increasingly practised activity as well. In the upper course of the river Guadalquivir, in the Embalse del Tranco ('Tranco waterdam') and, particularly in the river section beneath the dam, visitors will be able to practise rafting, canoeing and hydrospeed. Jaén's has many mountain-biking and hiking trails and is certainly one of the best places in Spain to practise these sports. Smaller water-dams, such as La Bolera, are also the venue of motorboating competitions.

Rock- and mountain-climbing may also be practised in the province of Jaén, which has dozens of trails specially maintained for these activities. The mountains themselves are also an ideal destination for other sports, such as paragliding or hang-gliding. There are take-off ramps in El Yelmo (in Sierra de Segura), Siete Pilillas (in Sierra Mágina), Sierra Ahillos (in Sierra Sur), and even small airfields at Beas de Segura (El Cornicabral) and at Las Infantas (Jaén).
