José Vázquez de Molina, chamber secretary to Felipe II, ordered the construction of this renaissance palace to Andrés de Vandelvira  in the 16th century. It owes its name to the iron cadenas (chains) between the columns which formerly surrounded the main entrance. At present it is the building of the City Hall, the city historical archive and the tourist interpretation centre “Renacentalia”.
